Maintainence Checklist for ATV buggy go cart riders by HH Motor Sports LLC
Battery charging, oil change, greasing ATVs, carburetor cleaning, for your ATV buggy
TIPS
NEVER JUMP THE BATTERY - To keep your battery at peak performance, a 2-AMP trickle charger should be used. We prefer the type with Automatic Shut-Off feature and this can be used all winter. If the battery is jumped, you can fry the electrical system all the way to the stator!
CHECKLIST FOR RIDING
As addressed in the Owners Manual, be sure to check all bolts, nuts, cables, and tire pressure before riding. Check brakes and tire lug nuts. Remove all dirt, mud, debris from underbody and exhaust areas prior to riding. Check air filter is in good condition and oil is registering full. For SS250 models, be sure you have proper coolant in the radiator before starting motor and only when engine is cool.
OUR NUMBER 1 REPLACEMENT PART ISSEATBELT ASSEMBLY Always wear your seatbelt - these can easily get "caught" under the tires when not in use KEEP SEATBELTS LATCHED TO AVOID GETTING UNDER THE TIRES! It is recommended to use eye protection and DOT approved helmet.
Pre-Drive Inspection and Safe Driving Precautions are listed in the Owner Manual.
CHAIN MAINTENANCE IS IMPORTANT!
USE CHAIN LUBE OFTEN - ESPECIALLY AFTER RIDING WHEN MOISTURE CAN START TO WORK ON CHAINS
CHECK FOR PROPER CHAIN ADJUSTMENT AFTER THE FIRST 2 HOURS OF USE. READJUST IF IT HAS MORE THAN 1/2" FLEX. See Owners Manual for how to adjust chain.
SPARK PLUG - Change out once a year. Use NGK motorcycle plug for best performance.Gap is 0.6-0.7mm
CHANGING THE OIL
It is important to have good clean oil to maintain the life of your motor. At HH your new buggy comes with new oil. Always check your oil level before riding and maintain level - DO NOT MIX DIFFERENT GRADES OF OIL when refilling.
Change the oil about every 10 hours of use. Use motorcycle oil - we recommend Castrol Actevo 10W40. In high temperature areas, use Amsoil 10W40 full synthetic - this runs 20% cooler and maintains good lubrication for your engine.
_During storage or non-use for a month or more, add a fuel stabilizer ie Sta-Bil to avoid having carb problems. Be sure to
drive it to get the additive into the engine and carb.
Note: Never make unnecessary adjustments to the carb - these are factory settings which apply to most applications.
Please do not use a carb cleaner found in auto parts departments. These are not good for this type vehicle.
USING FUEL STABILIZER
When you are storing your buggy, you can add a fuel stabilizer as the oxygenators in the fuel will evaporate over time. However be sure to run the buggy after adding stabilizer to be certain you will get this mix into the carburetor!
AIR FILTER - ALWAYS KEEP IT CLEAN SERVICE EVERY 20 HOURS - MORE IF RUN IN DUSTY AREAS
When an air filter gets clogged, it can damage your engine. Remove the air filter and TAP it onto a hard surface to dislodge debris. You can use forced air after the debris is out.
STORAGE: We have had them come in for service to find small animals had set up winter housing! Check the air cleaner assembly and around the engine, after storage.
FUEL SWITCH & 90 OCTANE
If your buggy has the On/OFF gas switch, be sure to turn it off when not using it. Also to keep your carb clean, we recommend using high octane gas, but it is not required.
